  1. Bertrand... if ur mother is jewish you are jewish... it is a race not just a religous sect. Pretty obvious logic easily lost with todays propaganda. This website is misinformed and therefor libelous. But who cares about the truth eh?

    1. Well, actually, it is both an ethnicity and a religion. One has to be born to a Jewish mother to be ethnically Jewish. Being ethnically Jewish does not mean one necessarily is a practicing (religiously observant) Jew. AND one can convert into the Jewish religion. In that instance, one's parents are likely NOT Jewish, but one can become Jewish by adopting the faith (a bit more involved than just saying, "Now I am a Jew.")

    2. Good point....Kim
There are several researches done ,that points out that , like it or not. BRCA mostly occur in the European (Askenazi ) Jewish population as a consequence of inbreeding.
So , BRCA is not a Jewish creation , but a result of a defective recessive gene ,reinforcing itself and becoming dominant as a result of that.
Then ,one can get into the fact that yes , BRCA can affect other groups . But in most of these cases , the carriers come from families in which the father ,grandfather , greatgrandfather , passed the defective genes to other generations.
By the time the connection is made in many cases , some BRCA carries have no idea of family history or are unable for lack of knowledge of that ,to go on to pass on the possible connection when they give their family history to a medical professional .

    3. "if ur mother is jewish you are jewish..." yeah, we know its according to 'halacha'.. but the question about "Jews racial" is still actual...

    4. Jewishness is a RACE. It has nothing to do with religion or place of birth. Einstein was not a religious man. You can describe him as a German-born Jewish physicist. Jesus Christ WAS NOT A JEW, because He didn't have BIOLOGICAL Jewish parents.

  5. According to this blog:

"**Please no hateful comments!!! If you post a comment that is considered hate speech or anti-Semitism, you're only wasting your own time as it will not be approved by the moderator (and therefore no one will ever see it)."

Seriously????????????? You don't see vile comments on here? The same Anonymous coward posted nasty remarks and then cut and pasted them again on another day!

This "Vile" woman as "Anonymous" called her "After years of dedicated service to UNHCR and the cause of refugees, Angelina Jolie in April 2012 was appointed as Special Envoy of UN High Commissioner for Refugees António Guterres. In her new and expanded role, she will be focusing on major crises resulting in mass population displacements; undertaking advocacy and representing UNHCR and Guterres at the diplomatic level; and engaging with decision-makers on global displacement issues. Through this work, she will help contribute to the vital process of finding solutions for people displaced by conflict.

Jolie previously represented UNHCR as a Goodwill Ambassador, and in this role she conducted more than 40 field visits around the world, becoming well-versed in the phenomenon of forced displacement and a tireless advocate on their behalf."

She has also adopted more than one International Orphan (not a publicity stunt) and is a very dedicated and devoted mother!!!

What have you done in your loser life that is any kind of memorable, you internet coward? You use your anonymity to insult people!

When you have gone far and wide to bring orphaned children into your life and give them a family and home, and when you help all kinds of ravaged humanity…then and only then should you open your ignorant and hateful mouth! You made yourself sound like a total moron!

    1. My name is Claudia .

I totally side with you on that. Be her Jewish or not has nothing to do with that fact that more important is to dispel or prove that BRCA has mostly a connection to the European Jewish community or not

  6. I read that Ashkenazim women had a 1 in 40 chance of breast cancer. So that would make sense of her fears and family history. If her mother was Jewish then the Ashkenazim BRAC2 genome would be a contributing factor to her chances, I wonder why this is not mentioned?

  7. Although being Ashkenazim substatially increases your risk of developing BRCA1/2 breast cancer, it is not a condition unique to jewish women, or women of jewish descent. The risk in the general UK population, for examole, is 1 in 500, so, given the relative sizes of populations, more women of non-jewish descent succumb to BRCA cancers every year.

Whatever your ethnicity, if BRCA mutations run in your family your risks of contracting breast or ovarian cancer increase to anything up to 90%.

Having watched her mother, aunt and grandmother die from BRCA related cancers, Ms Jolie took the intelligent decision to undergo two major surgical procedures to both reduce her own risk and avoid her children watching her suffer a similar fate. It is a tragedy that her biological chlldren, are all at high risk of carrying this devastating mutation.

BRCA is no respector of blood lines, shame on those who consider ethnicity the most important point of interest.
