Is Drake Jewish?

Yes, Drake is a Jew. The rapper Drake was born Aubrey Drake Graham in 1986.

Drake's mother is Jewish. Drake's father is Dennis Graham, an African American man who is not Jewish. Dennis Graham was a drummer for Jerry Lee Lewis. Drake's mother, Sandi Graham, was a teacher. Drake's parents divorced when he was five years old and he was raised by his mother.

Is Drake Jewish

Drake attended a Jewish day school and had a Bar Mitzvah. In October 2011, Drake celebrated a second bar mitzvah at Temple Israel in Miami where he filmed the music video for his song "HYFR" (released in April 2012).

Matisyahu once said about Drake, "He's Jewish, but he's not representing Judaism. He happens to be Jewish just like Bob Dylan happened to be Jewish, but what I'm doing is really tapping into my roots and culture, and trying to blend that with the mainstream... Drake's being Jewish is just a by-product."

  2. Being Jewish is not a by-product of anything, but a Jewish mother or conversation. While I respect Drake, that's just a ridiculous comment and his jewishness, just like all other jews, it defines him. Just look at his "HYFR" video...

  3. Why would Matisyahu say that? Drake isn't a by product of jewish. His mom was jewish (orthodox jews believe if your mother is jewish, you are jewish) He was raised by his mom, and attended jewish day school. He also had 2 bar-mitzvahs, and he expresses his jewish identity well. As much as I like Matisyahu, he is wrong.

    1. Dont be such idiots people, matisyahu said drakes jewishness was a by product, meaning it's secondary, while his is one of the sole focuses of his music. Hes not saying anything bad about drake, he just said drake doesn't try to promote his religion as much as matisyahu does

    2. Drake's nationality is Canadian. His religious identity is Jewish. You can be both Canadian and Jewish.

  5. I like Matiyahu's music and in interview, he sounds like he's really got his head together. This statement, if he actually made it, is unfortunate, in that he used Drake to make himself look better. I don't become a more valuable person, by s----g on another human being.

  9. He re-bar mitswaed at Temple Israel which is not a recognize synagogue. Ask the Edah Hareidis, the Grand Rabbi of Israel, the Agudah, you will always get the same answer: it is not a real synagogue. I do not know if Drake's mother was jewish orthodox, but in this case and this case only will he be jewish. If his mother was not orthodox you got to check in his maternal lineage if there has been non-orthodox conversions and in that case he wont be jewish.

Ps: he feels jewish but does he act jewish ? Honestly I do not think so. Just look at his videos, he is not the ideal jew. But he is pride of his religious identity and this is great although he does not seems to believe in all the jewish values.

  10. What is an " ideal jew" ? If your mom is Jewish, you are Jewish. That's the bottom line, how you observe is your own personal relationship with G-d, who by the way is the true judge. Jews have plenty of enemies , we all need to stick together as one people, whether you are orthodox, conservative reformed and so on. We are one nation and one people of different backgrounds. Drake is one of us, but more importantly he is also a human being, Remember that when you r express your opinion , which you are entitled to
